We intend to offer tailor-made trips to our
clients, as we don’t want to subject our
clients to a rigid itinerary or timetable - we want to give them exactly what they
want! Accordingly to this philosophy, our catalogue is rather flexible
in order to enable our clients to organize their own tours.
We offer a basic program that includes visits to the major sights of the
country. Of course, even this basic program is not compulsory but
only a proposal: If you want to replace a flight with a railway trip or have an additional day of sightseeing in Bagan
- no problem, just let us
know your requirements! You can add optional tours to our basic program or do them
separately. Duration and program
are completely at your disposal - we will be glad to give you all the assistance you
need...
PROGRAM
ELEMENTS (Valid until December 2008): |
- |
Prices: The prices of our tours are generally depending on means of transport and standard
of hotels. Of course air transport is more expensive than road or railway
travel and of course there are also the usual differences in the hotels' standards.
Hotels in areas off the beaten track can be amazingly expensive in some cases. |
- |
Food: Generally, our tours include
breakfast only as most of our clients seem to prefer to take the food supply
into their own hands. However, should you want to include meals (full board or
half board) into your program we can of course arrange that too. |
- |
Hotels:
Our clients can choose between luxury hotels (only in Yangon and
Mandalay) and
middle class hotels. All our contract hotels (that includes middle class hotels)
meet minimum requirements regarding cleanliness and comfort (all rooms are usually
air-conditioned with attached bathroom). Hotels in outlying areas sometimes
might not meet our minimum standards; in this case you can be assured that
we will always book the best available hotel for you. We will be happy to mail you
a list of our partner hotels on request.
|
- |
Guided tours:
We offer two kinds of guided tours: with “throughout guide” or with
“station guide”. The former one will pick you up at Yangon airport,
accompany you throughout the trip and put you on the airplane/other
transport again after your tour - except if you want to add beach
holidays: in this case the “throughout guide” usually is not coming
along - except, you ask for it! A station guide, on the other hand, will
wait for you at your respective destinations, guide you there and after
that put you on a plane/other transport to your next destination. We
offer “throughout guides” with skills in the following languages:
German, French, Italian, Spanish - and English of course. “Station
guides” usually speak English.
Of course a “throughout guide” is more expensive than a station
guide as you’ll have to pay for his/her flight fares as well as
accommodation even though the costs are considerably lower than for a
tourist due to special tariffs.
Our prices are calculated with “station guides”. If you want to hire
a “throughout guide” there will be additional costs: count on about
180 USD (total) for our standard tour (10 days/9 nights). “Throughout
guides” as well as “station guides” will help you to find suitable
restaurants, too.
Finally, you can of course opt for a tour without local guide too!

Transports:
Car rental prices for saloon cars and vans are extremely high in Myanmar. This
is due to the fact that cars are extremely expensive in this country. An
example: a friend of mine bought a seventeen (17!) year old “Toyota Corolla”
for 20,000 US dollars in 2001. Yes, twenty thousand!! In the West this car
would have only scrap value - but that’s the way it is here in Myanmar… To
our great annoyance this has increased the car cost percentage of some of the
tours (especially for single travelers) we’ve been offering so far to up to
70 % - with upward tendency! Moreover, if you want to hire the car for a one-way
trip you’ll have to pay for the empty ride back, too.
The same is true for a car-trip to one of the beach resorts: either you send
the car back and have it come again after your beach holiday (resulting in four
trips) or you let the car wait at the beach - neither one being a cheap option.
Being a tour operators and not a car rental agency, we are no longer willing to
support such cutthroat business and have canceled the respective tours such as
excursions to Mawlamyine or Lashio by saloon car. Bo-Tree is a travel agency,
not a car rental.
Instead, we’d recommend you to go by bus or train even though it might take a
little longer and be a little uncomfortable - but it’ll be an experience
you’ll remember for a long time. However, should you plan a trip by saloon
car nevertheless of course we will help you to find a suitable car. A round
trip by car certainly has its advantages - but it comes at a price… |
